2017 bass tournament
At the end of the in-class sessions we added yet another level to the program and with the support of 10 volunteer anglers we were able to organize a full scale, on the water, bass fishing tournament. Teams of 2 were drawn from the 20 youth participants who were then paired up with one of the 10 anglers. The anglers were not only assigned the task of guide but also as mentors and teachers, they were responsible for each child's safety and to assist them in implementing what they had been taught over the past 6 weeks. To see these volunteer anglers give up a day out of their personal lives with no monetary gain was amazing, a proud moment for both them and the program.
Without the help of these volunteers and the use of their boats this tournament could not have been possible. For many of these kids this is their first time being in a bass boat, for some, maybe the only time they will ever experience this.
