What more could you want when dealing with a group of eager, full of life kids when you tie it into the fantastic sport and hobby of angling. We got the "trifecta" this past Saturday during the Aim Marine Kids Fishing Day in Kanata. From species identification and knot tying, to landing a fish and making a few casts, the kids who showed up, thanks to their parents and guardians made this day all that it could be and more. The day started early, leaving Kingston around 7am with our small convoy heading to Ottawa. Our team consisted of myself and 2 of my sons along with 2 young men from the Holy Cross Secondary School Fishing Team. All hands were on deck to teach and guide the participants through skill stations and the skills challenge course. This was our first official involvement in is showroom setting as we are more accustom to the classroom environment, but I must say we all played a role and made this day memorable for each child who had a chance visit us. Three lucky kids who finished with the top three fastest times during the skills challenge received a prize package which included Rapala and Freedom Tackle Lures gear and apparel. The grand prize was awarded to one of the kids through the raffle draw which was open to all who took the challenge, all they had to do was try. This boy and his family will be set this summer to go camping with his brand new Coleman tent and sleeping bag combo which was donated by the Canadian Tire Store on Division Street here in Kingston. All in all it was another perfect day and great experience for The Next Cast Youth Fishing Program, we met some new faces and educated our youth. Job well done to all involved! Darren

With the upcoming event on March 31 which will be dedicated and revolve around everything kid and fishing related, David Scott had the opportunity to interview with host, Dylan Black and the raw emotion seen in the interview link below is 100% real.
This event is going to be a blast and I hope to see both new and familiar faces at Aim Marines Indoor Boat Showroom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=828LBsOAF3I Aim Marine is very proud and extremely excited to announce our next free seminar and event at the indoor winter showroom! This event is our Kid's Day! This day is all about the next generation of anglers. We have several guests that will be around most of the day at our indoor showroom! First, we would like to welcome Darren Young from The Next Cast! Darren, a devoted father and angler, has decided to give back, he put together a kids program in late 2016 that not only engages youth, but teaches them the theory of the sport and past-time of fishing. His passion for this program is infectious to those around him, and the sponsors who have stepped up to support him is truly amazing. Darren is our ring leader for the day, and trust me Kids, you better be ready to learn! Casting contests, relays, rigging lines, and more. He has a whole day planned, look for prizes, but you have to take part in the events to win! Darren's program is the only one of it's kind in Canada that we know of, he spends time with the kids, in a classroom teaching kids all about the science of fishing, and then organizes a day or more on the water with pro angler's, the kids get to go out on the water and put to use, the lessons they learned in the classroom! Here is one of the many responses Darren has received as a result of his program... “The fishing program not only opened him up to a new found hobby, it also opened him up to trying new things. This essentially has changed his entire outlook on how the world is. He’s not so fearful.” That is powerful, Way to go Darren! https://www.facebook.com/TNCYouthFishingProgram/www.facebook.com/TNCYouthFishingProgram/
